Enrollment & Policy

The Shreemay Vidya Mandir (SVM) program creates an environment where the child feels and become a part of a community with a common culture and tradition which belongs to the family and their friends. A sense of belonging is created and the child learns about his or her culture so that they can share the heritage with their American counterparts of diverse traditions.

Your participation can be in the following ways:

• Please bring your student to class on time.

• Each day, when you return home with your child ask them about class and practice the lesson that was taught that day. If it is sloka, Play the audio tape at home and/or in the car so your child becomes more familiar with it.

• Please do not miss classes unless the student is ill. Frequent absenteeism and tardiness are very discouraging to the student.

• Now and then we would like to meet with parents to plan out events and the kind of help we will need from week to week.

• We would like you to observe the class rules so that teaching of this class will enhance the program.

• In order that students can experience the practical application of what is taught, we encourage all parents to try to attend all the festivals that we celebrate at SVM each year.

• Parents may contact respective teacher should there be questions.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please review the information below before enrolling your child:

1. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

   • Parents are responsible for dropping off children at the respective classrooms at the beginning of class and picking them back up at the end of each class. Please do not drop off or pick up children at the curb or elsewhere in the building. There is no extended care before or after class.

   • Parents are expected to not leave their children in classrooms until the appointed teacher has arrived. Parents are also expected to accompany their children as they transition between classes. SVM is not responsible for the safety of children outside or inside the buildings or between classes except when the child is with a teacher during classroom hours.

   • Please arrive a few minutes before class to allow for adequate time to park your vehicle and walk your child to class. This will help you be safe. Unsafe conditions in parking lots are most often caused when parents are rushing when late.

2. EMERGENCY RESPONSE

   • In the event of an emergency, children will be released only to the individuals identified in the registration form. We reserve the right to ask for government-issued photo identification before releasing children. Children will be released only at designated “Student Release” areas. Please check with your child\s class teacher about the designated “Student Release” area and more details on this.

3. SVM Cultural / LANGUAGE CLASSES AND FEES

   • To be eligible for SVM Cultural or Language class admission, a student must be enrolled in Grade K or higher in a regular school. SVM reserves the right to refuse admission to students who do not meet this eligibility criterion.

   • SVM reserves the right to terminate a students enrollment at any time for any violation by the student or the student/s parent(s) of SVM /s policies and procedures or if SVM, in its sole discretion, determines that a student/s enrollment is not in the best interest of SVM  and/or the student. Reasons for termination may include student misbehavior, parental behavior that is uncooperative, and absences without prior teacher approval for more than 3 consecutive  classes or 5 classes in all per year, from all SVM classes for the rest of the year.

   • At the end of each class, rooms should be left in the same condition they were in prior to the start of class. Please do not remove anything from the classrooms or disturb any items in the classrooms

   • Fees for SVM and all other classes are non-refundable under all circumstances, including due to cancellation of classes.

4. FOOD AND DRINKS

   • There will be a designated area where SVM volunteers will provide light snacks and refreshments. Please ensure that this area is kept clean as well as ensure that all trash is disposed off into trash bins. Please eat only in designated areas. Food and drinks are not allowed in any of the classrooms or assembly area.
